Nazareth House Closure

November 3, 2020 By Nazareth House Leave a Comment

Dear Friends,

For over sixty years, Nazareth House, San Rafael has been caring for the Senior community in the Bay Area. Many wonderful men and women, clergy and religious have made Nazareth House, San Rafael their home.

Sadly, we have determined that we will no longer be able to continue our ministry at Nazareth House, San Rafael. Therefore, we must begin taking the necessary steps to close Nazareth House, San Rafael.

This decision has been made due to:

  • An ongoing shortage of qualified staff to maintain the provision of care in accordance with the Mission and Core Values of The Congregation of the Sisters of Nazareth
  • Our critical financial circumstances
  • Challenges being posed by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic

Please be reassured that our other Nazareth Houses; Fresno, Los Angeles and San Diego will continue.

Thank you for your support of Nazareth House through the years. We ask your prayers as move forward with this closure which will probably occur in February of 2021.

We do not know the next step on our journey; however, we do know that God will be at our side as we move forward. We pray in thanksgiving for all that has been, for all that is, and for all that is yet to come.

Sincerely,

Sister Rose Hoye csn                                Barbara Anne Crowley

Resident Message

April 16, 2020 By Nazareth House Leave a Comment

Even amid the difficulties of our coronavirus shelter at home situation, a resident took the time to express words of appreciation for living here at Nazareth House. She wrote to the staff:

“Thank you for all you do, every day, in every way, to turn this vision into the reality of living in this Garden of Eden, Nazareth House. I have been here for only five months, and it is already home. The grounds are beautiful, with flowers and fountains – wonderful places for quiet prayer and meditation. The food is excellent…. The people are sweet – so good, so holy, in many ways so much fun to be with. It’s almost as if the aging process has acted on these dear people with some sort of magic, where each wrinkle and gray hair has enhanced them with a quality that “young and beautiful” doesn’t possess. It’s the same way the inevitable natural process of growing old produces a ripe and rosy, delicious peach, a succulent wheel of cheese, a mellow glass of wine… and lovely, loving, lively, happy old folks!”
