In each case one can ask a question of psychological and historical interest: was it a philosophical penchant which drew the investigator towards a kind of physics research which is linked to philosophy, or was it rather that the conceptual difficulties of fundamental physics pulled him willy-nilly into the labyrinth of philosophy?

THE origin of quantum theory is connected with a well-known phenomenon, which did not belong to the central parts of atomic physics. Any piece of matter when it is heated starts to glow, gets red hot and white hot at higher temperatures. The colour does not depend much on the surface of the material, and for a black body it depends solely on the temperature. Therefore, the radiation emitted by such a black body at high temperatures is a suitable object for physical research; it is a simple phenomenon that should find a simple explanation in terms of the known laws for radiation and heat. The attempt made at the end of the nineteenth century by Lord Rayleigh and Jeans failed, however, and revealed serious difficulties.
It does not seem to have conceptual boundaries that can be made self-contained as in physics. ResearchGate has not been able to resolve any references for this publication. Scientific development has never been smooth nor ubiquitous. The history of science would seem to suggest that such pr, Many physicists and philosophers coming to the philosophy of science through the inanimate sciences find biology an untidy subject1 in certain respects. But these are only beginning points in our discussion.

These lectures discuss the theoretical and empirical results brought about with the development of quantum physics, at the same time giving an insight into the extent to which such results go beyond the scope of pure science and affect fundamental philosophical conceptions of reality and of the place of man in it. The latter theme is investigated both theoretically and historically. From the former perspective, Heisenberg focuses on the structural links between physical theories and their philosophical premises. He pays special attention to the interaction between ontological and epistemological assumptions at stake in the axiomatic postulations of every physical theory.
Nobody questions what the theory predicts, only what it means. At the heart of the quantum revolution is Heisenberg's uncertainty principle. This tells us, roughly.
He published his work in in a breakthrough paper. In the subsequent series of papers with Max Born and Pascual Jordan , during the same year, this matrix formulation of quantum mechanics was substantially elaborated. He is known for the uncertainty principle , which he published in Heisenberg was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics "for the creation of quantum mechanics".

Many of the pioneers of quantum mechanics — notably Planck, Einstein, Bohr, de Broglie, Heisenberg, Schrodinger, Born, Jordan, Lande, Wigner, and London — were seriously concerned with philosophical questions. This readable and instructive book emphasizes mainly the fact that cancer is not a biological entity but a term used for many distinct diseases.
