Religious statues abound at Nazareth House, and we are pleased to share photos of them as our annual Christmas cards. The 2017 and 2018 photos are shown in this post.
The New Dining Experience at Nazareth House
In combination with our residents, nutritional adviser, and a senior dining expert, we have enhanced the Nazareth House dining experience! Entree choices have increased, new recipes have been added, and service is more individualized. Old favorites like our homebaked scones, spaghetti bolognese, and spinach salads are of course still offered. We hear everyday: “The food is great!”. The Dinner Meal is served at noon. Guests and visitors are welcome, please call to arrange.
Volunteers Honored at Nazareth House
Thank you to all the wonderful volunteers who live the Core Values of the Sisters of Nazareth in their service to the Nazareth House community. From answering phones, to hosting cocktail parties, to running the Gift Shop, volunteers show LOVE, HOSPITALITY, RESPECT, COMPASSION, PATIENCE, AND JUSTICE day in and day out. You are appreciated!!
Donation to St. Vincent de Paul Society
They saved their pennies and spare change for a year, feeding the piggy bank until bursting. They collected $500, and a match from the Sisters brought the amount to $1,000! During a recent Resident Council meeting, with pride, they presented a check to the local St. Vincent de Paul Society. Shown here are our Chaplain Rev. Robert Kevin White happily handing over the donation to Peter Gallagher, Board Member St. Vincent de Paul. We are proud of our residents for their kindness and generosity.
Dave Marty on Banjo- Happy Birthday Residents!
Our bi-monthly birthday celebration in August was lively with Dave Marty on banjo playing lots of familiar tunes. Dave is an inductee in the American Banjo Museum Hall of Fame, and when you hear him play, you know why! Thanks to Dave and to the gracious Nazareth House Auxiliary birthday committee volunteers who decorated beautifully and served a most delicious fresh fruit cake! You can hear Dave at this site:

Three Cheers from the Military Officers Association
Nazareth House was recognized by the Marin Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America for the proper display of the American Flag. Anna Nguyen, Executive Director, attended the MOA luncheon and accepted the award. Thank you to neighbor Bill Wickley for nominating us, and Donald Bibeault for presenting the award. It has been our pleasure to fly the colors for 55 years!
Jeopardy and Jigsaws
Residents at Nazareth House can choose to participate in a variety of planned activities, can pursue solitary hobbies, or can enjoy a pick-up card game or afternoon chat in one of the House living rooms. A daily calendar of events is available at breakfast or on CCTV to help in planning the day. August’s special outing will be a trip to the Bay Model. There is something for everyone at Nazareth House.

Mission San Rafael Archangel
The residents of Nazareth House toured the Mission San Rafael in July, and learned about its brief but impactful 17 year history. Special thanks to Annie and her children Megan and Daniel for their expert guide work and educational material.
